Abstract: Churchill is said to be the most successful speaker since Roman times in western history. In 1953, he was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature. His speeches are straightforward, natural, clear and fluent. This paper makes a stylistic analysis on Winston Churchill’s two famous speeches from the perspective of phonology, lexis and syntax. Theories concerning style and public speech are also fully explored. The intention is to throw some light on the art of public speaking by way of appreciating classic speeches.

摘要：丘吉爾被譽為自從古羅馬時代以來西方歷史上最激動人心的演說家，他因演說的非凡成就而獲得了1953年諾貝爾文學獎。他的演說辭具有直率、自然、明朗和流暢的特點。本論文對丘吉爾的兩篇著名演講稿，從語音、詞匯、句法等各個層面進行了文體分析，并對相關的文體理論和公共演講理論進行了探討，旨在通過欣賞經典演講來學習英語公共演講的藝術。
